Message Area
When it loads, TiddlyWiki looks for the names of tiddlers to open as a space-separated list after the # in the URL. If there are no tiddlers in the URL it instead loads the tiddlers named in DefaultTiddlers, one of the SpecialTiddlers.
TiddlyWiki uses several special tiddlers to hold the text used for the MainMenu, the StyleSheet, the SiteTitle and the SiteSubtitle. DefaultTiddlers is used to store the titles of the tiddlers that are shown at startup. SaveChanges is automatically displayed if there's a problem with saving. Any of them can be edited with the changes taking effect immediately. (Although you will need to restart after making changes to the StyleSheet tiddler).

A TiddlyWiki is like a blog because it's divided up into neat little chunks, but it encourages you to read it by hyperlinking rather than sequentially: if you like, a non-linear blog analogue that binds the individual microcontent items into a cohesive whole. I think that TiddlyWiki represents a novel medium for writing, and will promote it's own distinctive WritingStyle. This is the ThirdVersion of TiddlyWiki, which adds several NewFeatures. There are also several TiddlyWikiAdaptations by other developers based on earlier versions.\n\nThe original TiddlyWiki is http://tiddlywiki.com.
About Tablet PC
The art of entering information on your Tablet PC. The pen has all the functions of your mouse but is also used to write in digital ink. The pen generally has at least one button on the barrel this is usually used for Right Clicking.\n\nMost pens are pressure sensitive, this makes the writing experience feel so much more real.
A Hybrid Tablet PC is one which offers the flexibility of the Slate form factor but with the added advantages of the Convertible style - generally through the use of a detachable keyboard. This gives the best of both worlds.\n\nExamples of the Hybrid model include:\n* HP TC1000\n* HP TC1100
A Convertible Tablet PC has an attached keyboard such that the Tablet PC can be used in the standard clamshell way of a traditional notebook, and yet can be folded flat to be written on in digital ink.\n\nExamples of the Convertible model include:\n* HP TC4200
The technology that digitally represents handwriting in its natural form. In a typical digital ink system, a digitizer is laid under or over an LCD screen to create an electromagnetic field that can capture the movement of a special-purpose Pen, or Stylus, and record the movement on the LCD screen. The effect is like writing on paper with liquid ink. The recorded handwriting can then be saved as handwriting or converted to typewritten text using handwriting recognition.
See the definition of Pen.
How the Tablet PC recognizes characters and other symbols written by hand in natural handwriting. A Pen or Stylus is used to handwrite on the screen, after which the Tablet PC turns the handwriting into digital text.
There are two ways in which to Right Click on a Tablet PC, //either//:\n\n* Press the nib of the Pen on the screen and hold until the Right Click menu pops up\n\n//or//\n\n* Press the button on the barrel of the Pen before touching the screen with the nib, then touch the screen with the nib - the Right Click menu will pop up.
A Slate model Tablet PC has no attached keyboard and consists of just the the 'tablet' itself.\n\nExamples of the Slate model include:\n* HP TC1000 (see also Hybrid)\n* HP TC1100 (see also Hybrid)
A TiddlyWiki aggregates MicroContent items (called 'Tiddlers') into pages that are loaded in one gulp and progressively displayed as the user clicks hypertext links to read them.

Speech recognition technologies allow computers equipped with a microphone (or a MicrophoneArray) to interpret human speech, e.g. for transcription or as an alternative method of interacting with a computer. The Tablet PC OS comes with speech recognition built-in.
The TIP, also known as the Tablet Input Panel, is where you can enter handwritten text in digital ink and have it converted to 'actual text' (or digital text) through the OS's handwriting recognition engine.
For the purposes of distinguishing digital ink from the 'usual' text as used in (non-tablet) PCs, that text format is referred to here as digital text.
The Rugged model Tablet PC is a tough mobile computer with an industrial-strength shell and shock-mounted hard drive. Rugged models are ideal for people who use their PC in a construction zone, while on patrol, in military situations, or simply for those who need something ultra durable.
If you are thinking about getting a Tablet PC take a look at the following to help you make up your mind. (You may also want to have a look at the recommendations for those who have JustGot their Tablet PC:\n\n1. TiddlyWiki doesn't have a ServerSide back end at the moment, so when you Save you're saving the whole document, as you would with Microsoft Word. That means that it is essentially only really a single user thing. There are several TiddlyWikiAdaptations that //do// have a ServerSide, though.

This is the first Journal entry - I intend to use the Jounal entries to map milestones and major updates/ changes etc. to tabletpcwiki.net.
I will keep a Journal of all major updates made, and milestones achieved, for tabletpcwiki.net using the "Create Journal Entry". In order to track changes, just type "Journal:" into the Search box in the tool-bar to the left and a list of all Journal entry Tiddlers should appear.
The website goes 'semi-live' :-)

This TiddlyWiki is setup in order to be a one-stop resource for all that is Tablet PC - and as it is a TiddlyWiki it is all held in one file, which means that if you copy this single file (see SaveAs) onto your own desktop you have the complete resource available to you to carry around and add to as you wish.\n\nThis version has no ServerSide content - that means any changes you make will be local - you need to save your own copy - it is this way by design. However if you create a Tiddler which you would like to share then do it this way: EmailMeContent.\n\nThere are a number of Tablet PC Resources in this TiddlyWiki. Each time you see a highlighted word or group of words, that is a Tiddler, click on it and it will bring up more information, which will link on to more information. It is very intuitive once you get the hang of it.\n\nThe information in this TiddlyWiki has come from various sources around the web, including newsgroups, websites, discussion fora etc. It is also possible to TrackUpdates to this TiddlyWiki.\n\nSome information about my interests can be found under AboutMe.
* Be careful of jewelery such as watch straps or bracelets as they can scratch the screen of your Tablet PC.
A (good) ScreenProtector has all these lovely qualities:\n* Anti-Glare\n* Eliminates UV\n* Prevents Scratches\n* Improves Screen Contrast\n* Provides an enhanced Writing Surface\n* Uses no adhesive and is easily repositioned\n* Is easily cleaned and re-used
If you have a Tiddler to add to tabletpcwiki.net, just edit this Tiddler, overwrite the content with your own - when you are finished then copy and paste the final text content into an email and send it to me (remember to include the Tiddler name) to: //tiddler AT tabletpcwiki DOT net//
The Tablet PC is the newest generation of mobile computers. The Tablet PC provides all the power of a standard Microsoft Windows-based notebook plus additional features that improve mobility including writing in digital ink using a Pen, light form-factors, and handwriting recognition and speech recognition. These enhancements increase the number of ways people can use computers for practical and creative work. You can either work completely in digital ink or you can have your handwriting translated to digital text through the TIP.\n\nThere are primarily two form factors for Tablet PCs: Convertible and Slate. Some manufacturers produce Hybrid devices which will work both as a slate as well as in 'normal' laptop mode. (There are also Rugged versions of Tablet PCs too). \n\nTablet PCs run the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system.\n\nThis TiddlyWiki will hopefully provide you with enough information to let you hit the ground running if you have JustGot or are AboutToGet your Tablet PC. In the meantime here are some TabletPCDos and some TabletPCDonts.\n\n
My name is Christopher James, I am an academic and a biomedical engineer interested in the advancement of the Engineering Profession in general, and the Biomedical Engineering Profession specifically. I perform research at the University of Southamption in the UK, and my research centers around the use of intelligent signal processing techniques in the analysis of biomedical signals. In particular I am interested in the analysis of the electromagnetic activity recorded from the brain - in the form of the electroencephalogram (EEG) and magnetoencephalogram (MEG). The EEG in particular is a useful diagnostic tool in field of epilepsy.\n\nI am an early adopter of the Tablet PC technology and very soon after the Tablet PC platform was launched I was running my website http:www.tc-one-thousand.com which serves as a repository of information about HP's specific line of Tablet PCs of which I own two. In July of 2004 I was awarded Tablet PC MVP by Microsoft for helping to promote the tablet PC platform - I am passionate about the tablet PC and the potential it has in making my working day more efficient, productive and easy. Calibrating the screen of your Tablet PC is about setting up your Tablet PC so that it responds more appropriately to the way that you hold your tablet Pen - it individualises your Tablet PC experience. You can calibrate your screen using the Settings page in the Tablet and Pen Settings dialog in Control Panel (Tap on Calibrate).
